University of Nottingham – ‘Research-Led-Teaching’ in Maths

The Centre for Research in Mathematics Education at the University of Nottingham, in partnership with the East Midlands East and West Maths Hubs, are hosting a ½-day miniconference exploring how current research ideas about the teaching and learning of mathematics (see below) can inform teaching in local school contexts by practising Primary and Secondary teachers.

When: 30 January 2023, 12:30 – 5:00 pm (lunch provided from 12:30 – 1:15pm)

Where: Jubilee Conference Centre, Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham, NG8 1BB

Derbyshire Services for Schools: CPD Opportunities

We’re excited to sign post Derbyshire Local Authority’s new website to promote CPD opportunities across the region!

Derbyshire Services for Schools is the home of all discretionary training offered by Derbyshire County Council to schools, academies, and education settings. They provide scheduled and on-demand training, delivered in-person or through MS Teams as well as access to support resources and session recordings.

Summer 2023 – Teaching Internship Programme for Undergraduates

The Teaching Internship Programme is commencing this summer at George Spencer Academy!

We offer a 3-week placement at George Spencer Academy during June and July for those currently studying an undergraduate Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or Computer Science degree at university and are interested in teaching Physics, Maths, Chemistry or Computing.

This programme offers an insight into teaching as a career and will allow interns to work with current trainees, ECTs, teachers and leaders. You’ll gain classroom experience, support pupils, shadow experienced teachers, observe lessons and lots more!

Each intern will also receive £300 per week for attendance and active participation in the programme.
