LearningShared: New Networking & Development Events – In Person & Virtual
We hope this finds you well after the Spring break and refreshed and ready for the Summer term.
(1) We are delighted to announce a NEW ADDITIONAL EVENTto our schedule of EfL LearningShared Regional Conferences. The new event will be held in Derbyshire at the Winding Wheel Theatre, Chesterfield on May 17th. All are welcome and we already have over 40 schools pre-registered for this event so it promises to be fantastic opportunity for networking and shared learning. (see details below)
(2) We’re also excited to announce the 1st of our Summer LearningShared virtual live events on May 3rd (3:45pm – 5pm). Professor Barry Carpenter CBE OBE will chair a session exploring Reflective Inquiry and how we can create a ‘finding out culture’ in our schools.. Barry will be joined by a panel consisting of school leaders & practitioners who will discuss and share practice from their settings as well as host virtual breakout room conversations and answer any questions you have.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Following on from the success of our regional conferences in the Spring term (which saw over 130 leaders & practitioners from across the country come together to network & collaborate) we are delighted to announce a NEW ADDITIONAL EVENT which will be held at the Winding Wheel Theatre, Chesterfield on May 17th.
Over 40 schoolshave already pre-registered, so this is going to be a brilliant chance to network, share and learn alongside leaders of SEND & Inclusion from across the country.
We invite you to join us for an exploration and discussion of the following questions and more, as well as the chance to share your ideas and experiences with other school leaders at our upcoming Regional Leadership Networking & Developing Conferences. A unique networking and collaborative learning and development opportunity.

* As school leaders how are we being responsive to the key points & issues raised in the SEND & AP Implementation Paper?

The EfL LearningShared conferences are a unique opportunity for leaders and SENDCos at schools, colleges and settings across the country to come together for a day of sharing and development.
Workshops and presentations will be led by colleagues including Diane Rochford OBE, Vijita Patel (Principal, Swiss Cottage School, Development & Research Centre & Trustee of Challenge Partners), James Waller (Headteacher, Sunningdale School & Trustee of EQUALS), Martin McKenna (Headteacher, Foxfield School) and Alistair Crawford (St Martins & St Andrews, NNSP & Whole School SEND) plus you will be able to participate in structured roundtable discussions and lots of opportunities for networking.
Agenda The complexity threshold has undoubtedly shifted in recent years and as practitioners we need to be agile, responsive and innovative in the ways in which we support learners.

Diane Rochford OBE: Curriculum Intent, Implementation & Impact In this session Diane will explore approaches to inclusion and curriculum posing a series of questions for roundtable discussion as to whether our language, pathways, themes and curriculum actually meet the needs of the students in our school communities.

Vijita Patel: National Landscape & regional context for SEND & Inclusion We are facing very uncertain times with regard to funding, political direction and the very notion of what inclusion means in society. Vijita will share regional & national updates highlighting things we should all have on our radar as we navigate the SEND landscape over the coming weeks and months. Key questions covered in the session include….

James Waller: Pupil Wellbeing & Mental Health In this session James shares the approach to wellbeing from multiple outstanding school Sunningdale. James charts the evolution of need and how Sunningdale has placed wellbeing at the heart of their provision, responding to very unique needs of students whilst maintaining the highest aspirations and standards.
* What curriculum approaches or pedagogy have you adopted or adapted to take into account the increasing developmental complexity, heightened anxiety and other indicators that you are now identifying in your pupils?

Martin McKenna: Ofsted – What it was really like through the lens of SEND & Inclusion (Feb 2023 Inspection) Foxfield School was inspected in Feb 2023. In this session Martin shares perspectives, experiences and learning to demystify the inspection process and provide tips as to how leaders can celebrate and champion inclusion in their settings particularly through the use of Evidence for Learning.

Roundtable Discussion & Networking As with all events we’ve run in the past, the emphasis of each day will be on discussion, learning and networking… giving you lots of opportunity to meet and forge relationships with new partners and collaborators for your professional networks. The format of the whole day is roundtable discussion and networking, both structured through our agenda and freeform during lunch and break times.
