Spencer Apprenticeships, part of the Spencer Academies Trust, is committed to high quality professional training for the education sector, supporting excellence in education and securing best possible outcomes for learners.
Spencer Apprenticeships is now able to offer the Teacher Apprenticeship, in partnership with George Spencer SCITT. This is a salaried route into teaching securing Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within 1 year.

The University of Derby offer a huge range of PGCE and QTS courses that prepare trainees to teach students of all ages from primary to adults.
As a major provider of newly qualified teachers in the East Midlands, the University of Derby has a strong reputation for nurturing successful, confident and forward – thinking teachers.
With a focus on practical teaching experiences, placements are at the heart of the University of Derby’s training, allowing trainees to build skills in a real – life setting with the support of a mentor throughout.

At Bluecoat SCITT Alliance, we celebrate INCLUSION and DIVERSITY and we encourage our trainees to be committed, reflective professionals with high levels of pedagogical skill and subject knowledge. Our education and training are designed to prepare new teachers to be AMBITIOUS for all of their learners, founded in a culture of HIGH ASPIRATIONS. Through COLLABORATION with our partnership schools, we aim to provide a high-quality, coherent, rich and inclusive curriculum which ensures that novice teachers are well-equipped to meet the needs of all learners. Moreover, we aim to prepare our trainees for sustained careers as HIGHLY SKILLED PRACTITIONERS within the teaching profession, in order to provide the East Midlands with dedicated teachers who are CONFIDENT in meeting the needs of our diverse partner schools.
We offer a school based training provision in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University (University of the Year for Teaching Quality 2020), who deliver the PGCE. All of your professional learning is delivered at our Specialist SCITT Training Centre.

Training is a blend of practical classroom teaching alongside weekly subject knowledge and educational theory sessions.

DTSA has a team of four employed staff, plus a wide range of facilitators, who offer support and collaboration to a wide range of school staff. We work with over 500 schools in Derby/shire and into Notts, Leics, and Staffs. Our DTSA offer comprises Early Years, Primary, and Secondary School Direct Initial Teacher Education (ITTE) as a Collaborative Partner with the University of Derby; the Derby/shire and Nottingham/shire STEM Science Learning Partnership (SLP), and the STEM Club Champions Award for the East Midlands.
We then also partner with the Potteries Computing Hub to provide the spoke for computing training for teachers. DTSA was previously the Derby Teaching Schools Alliance, but following the DfE changes we are now Developing Teachers, Schools and Academies, with a trading arm named Developing Teachers of Science Association.
Established in 2013, by a group of schools coming together, DTSA is a not-for-profit education charity in Derby City, working with education providers across the East Midlands region.

Derby College’s Professional, Education Training and Development Academy offers an in-service pathway to full teaching qualifications for those already in an education or training setting. It is an ideal “earn as you learn” route to full qualification.
The course provides a solid foundation in all aspects of teaching to prepare trainees for a highly successful career. It’s a 2-year in-service part-time route to a full qualification, offered in partnership with the University of Derby.
By qualifying with Derby College, trainees will achieve either Level 7 or Level 5 depending on prior learning, attaining either a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education or a Certificate in Education.

Derby Early Years Teaching School (DEYTS) offers a school-led teacher training course ran in conjunction with The University of Warwick, allowing trainees to be a part of the teaching team within a school from day one.
Designed in collaboration with The University of Warwick, DEYTS aims to produce outstanding, reflective practitioners who can provide creative, challenging and purposeful teaching and learning with a focus on 2-7-year olds and early years.
This Postgraduate Certificate in Education Early Years programme leads to qualified teacher status and 60 Masters credits.
Teach First develop teachers and leaders who share a commitment to a fair education.
Teach First trainees teach subjects across Early Years, Primary and Secondary in schools throughout England and Wales.
Once they complete the first year on the programme, trainees will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and be part way to the Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Leadership. In their second year, the trainees become a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT), completing the final two modules of the PGDE.
Trainees who choose this route join a ten thousand strong network for professional support and guidance. They also gain a fully funded PGCE qualification worth two thirds of a Masters degree.
